IKE'S MISSION CONTINUES
Ike's mission passes the halfway mark and in one eventful day brings him from India to the shores of the Mediterranean. In Athens, he receives a fervently enthusiastic reception on a par with those at every earlier stop on his route. Earlier, in Iran, his motorcade through Teheran was cheered by vast throngs as it rolled over Persian carpets strewn in the streets.
VENERATED RELIC SHOWN
In the ancient German city of Trier, American Air Force personnel are among those privileged to view a sacred relic - a vestment purported to have been worn by Christ, which has been publicly shown only three times in over a century.
ODD-BALL FLYING MACHINES: At Princeton, New Jersey, a series of strange flying scooters and aero-mobiles go through their paces, weird craft that bob along only a few inches off the ground, poised on drafts of air from giant fans.
ICE SHUTS DOWN HARBOR: Poland's busy harbor of Gdynia is paralyzed by plummeting mercury and icy winds. Every ship in the key Baltic port is sheathed with inches of tough ice. Heavy chipping ahead for the crew!
REDS REPATRIATE KOREANS: Tumultuous scenes of departure in Japan, as 5,000 Korean refugees elect to be repatriated to Red-ruled North Korea, and police hold back South Korean sympathizers in the crowd who try to prevent the return.
SOVIET, GERMAN GYMNASTS VIE: In Germany, a near upset as German gymnasts hold heavily favored Soviet contestants to a surprisingly narrow 6-point margin. In each event, champions show their finest in a series of awesome performances.
