Description:
This film depicts scenes near Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the spring of 1942, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. A Naval band is shown as it performed, and signalmen are seen as they sent messages with signal lights. Submarine nets, merchant ships, destroyers, aircraft carriers, and amphibious cargo ships are shown in Pearl Harbor, and the Tennessee-class battleship the USS California (BB-44), which was sunk during the attack, is seen as it was raised from the bottom of the harbor and water was pumped over its side. Men are then shown as they worked on the deck of the USS California in an effort to salvage the ship and return it to service.
