Description:

This episode of "Victory at Sea" explains the conflicting aspects of the Japanese culture of serene, peaceful living with its warlike nationalism. The scenes demonstrate how American forces smothered Japan's aggression with the battle at Okinawa, and focuses on Allied air wars against kamikaze pilots. The film also chronicles President Franklin Roosevelt's death and funeral. The film was a production of the National Broadcasting Company in cooperation with the United States Navy, produced by Henry Salomon, directed by M. Clay Adams, and written by Henry Salomon with Richard Hanser.
